Using the AI Tools on Your ENS Titanium System

The everyday tasks for your team: saving a person's face to a group (like flagging a shoplifter), following that person through the store with Smart Search, and managing your face groups.

ENS Titanium NVR Facial Recognition + AI Metadata Grocery Retail Loss-Prevention

Good news — it's already set up

New AV has turned on facial recognition at your entrances and created your two groups: Thieves and Managers. You don't need to build anything. Day to day you'll do three things — save a face, follow a person, and once in a while tidy up the groups.

To open the AI tools: click the Start icon (bottom-left of the screen) → Intelligent Analytics. Across the top you'll see Search (find people) and Sample Database (manage groups).

Saving a Face · Thieves or Managers

Saving a Face to a Group

Two ways to get to the save screen — Way 1 live as it's happening, Way 2 from recorded footage. Both open the same Register window, where you pick a group and save.

Way 1  Live, from the Target Detection panel  (fastest)
  1. Look at the Target Detection panel
On the normal live screen, the strip down the right side (Target Detection) shows every face the doors pick up, newest on top.
  2. Hover the person's face, click Add ( + )
This opens the Register window (see below). (The other hover icons: view the clip, play it, ··· more.)
Way 2  From recorded footage
  1. Open Intelligent Analytics → Search → Face
Start icon Intelligent Analytics → top tab Search. On the left keep People, and up top click the Face tab.
  2. Set the day and camera, then Search
Pick the date (e.g. Today), leave Camera (All) or choose a door, then click Search. A wall of captured faces appears.
  3. Hover the right face → click the Save icon
Click the square-with-a-plus to open Register. (The magnifier finds the clip; the up-arrow exports it to USB.)
The Register window  Fill it in & save

The window has a lot of fields, but for your use you only need a couple. Here's what to do with each:

Name
Type a name if you know it — or just a label like "May 5th thief."
Gender
Quick dropdown — Male / Female. Helpful but optional.
Remark
Worth using. A short description of the incident (e.g. "Beer theft, walked out 5/5"). This shows up with the alert and in the log, so it tells you why they're flagged.
Group
The one that matters. Choose Thieves or Managers.

Then click OK. The face is now active in the system.

What happens when a flagged face comes inWhen someone in the Thieves group is picked up at the door, a pop-up appears on the manager's office screen with their face and name, and the event is saved to the log (with your remark). That's the cue that a known person just walked in.
Pick a good face shotChoose a thumbnail where the face is clear and looking toward the camera — not turned away or hidden under a hat. A clean shot is what makes the system recognize them next time. (Saving two shots of the same person is fine, for redundancy.)
2
Smart Search · Find & Follow a Person

Tracking a Person with Smart Search

Pick a person and the system finds everywhere else they appeared. Done right, you can watch them move through the store in order — and see what they took, from where, and when.

  1. Find the person, then start Smart Search
Click a face (from the live Target Detection panel, or from a SearchFace result). Their clip opens on the right — click the picture-frame-with-magnifying-glass icon . This opens the Smart Search panel with that person loaded.
  2. Set the Similarity, then Search
On the left there's a Similarity slider (starts at 75). Nudge it up if you're getting people who aren't your target; drop it if you're missing them. See the sweet-spot note below. Then click Search.
  3. Sort by Time — this is the key step
Top-right there's a Sort dropdown. Change it from Camera to Time. Now the results run in order, so you can follow the person from the front door through each aisle as the clock moves forward.
  4. Review and export
Click any result to watch it. To save evidence, tick the clips you want and use Backup (or Backup All) to a USB drive.
Similarity sweet spotDefault is 75. Around 85 is where you can be confident it's the same person. Going to 90+ tightens it so much you'll lose good results — so don't push past ~85. You can also drop a second photo of the person into the box on the left to sharpen the match.
Other option  Search by description (when you don't have a clean face)
  1. Open the Attribute tab
In Search, click the Attribute tab (next to Face and People).
  2. Set time, cameras, and the details you remember
Pick the date range and cameras, then choose details like gender, clothing color, hat, glasses, or a bag, and click Search. From any result you can launch Smart Search to follow that person.
Example"All cameras, 2:00–2:45 PM, male, red shirt, black hat" returns every matching person in seconds — instead of scrubbing hours of video by hand.
3
Sample Database · Group Management

Managing the Groups

When you need to clean things up — see who's flagged, rename someone, or remove a face — go to the Sample Database tab.

  1. Open Sample Database
In Intelligent Analytics, click the Sample Database tab at the top, with Face selected on the left. You'll see your two groups: Thieves and Managers, each showing how many faces are in it.
  2. Expand a group to see who's in it
Click the chevron in the Expand/Collapse column. The group opens to show each saved face and its label.
  3. Add, change, or remove faces
With a group open, use Add / Modify / Delete for individual faces, or Search face by name to find one fast. Click a face to see and edit its details (name, remark, etc.) on the right.
  4. Rename or delete a whole group
Use the pencil (Edit) to rename a group, or the trash (Delete) to remove one. Add Group at the bottom makes a new one if you ever need it.
Careful with Delete & Clear AllDelete removes a flagged person for good, and Clear All empties the whole group. There's no undo — only remove a face when you truly mean to.
